A carved giltwood console table, possibly German mid 18th century

with a mottled brown marble top of serpentine form, the whole carved with scrollwork, flowers and foliage, raised on downscrolled legs joined by a stretcher, damaged

The top has a repaired break with metal reinforcements to the underside. Areas of the surface are worn with minor chips around the edges. There is a loss to the carved decoration and moulding on the back left corner. Further losses to the floral decoration on the frieze with many age cracks, fragmentation and chips throughout. The gilding is flaky and chipped with a build up of surface dirt.
