Provenance
Although only recorded in 1859 the prospect may have been acquired by William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire (1784 – 1811) at the time of his Grand Tour in the late 1760s.

Condition
In very poor condition, laid to canvas, very acute paper discolouration, considerable loses to three areas, extensive tears, other holes and tears, heavy surface soiling
