Description

  • 217cm. high, 109cm. wide; 7ft. 1½in., 3ft. 7in.
with six fielded panels to each side, filled areas to handle and hinge positions

Condition

Good condition but of generally dry appearance with water stains and chippings to the edges. The mouldings around one panel are split. Would benefit from a clean. There are chips around the keyhole which has been moved. There is a filled in section with one piece missing further up the leading edge.

Catalogue Note

It seems likely that the doors offered here were originally part of the 1st Duke's family apartments on the first floor at Chatsworth. Some where replaced by mahogany examples in the late 18th century.
