  • 270cm. high, 158cm. wide; 8ft. 10¼in., 5ft. 2¼in.
the upper section with double panel doors enclosing three shelves with a single frieze drawer between two dummy drawers, the lower section with panel doors enclosing a single shelf

Provenance

Probably ordered by William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire (1748-1811). A number of corner cupboards are also mentioned in the early inventories of Chatsworth in 1764, in the Housekeepers Room, and in in 1792 in the Steward's Room.

Condition

In Country house condition. A charming object with wear from storage. Typical old marks and scratches associated with the storage of this piece. One door is missing a section of moulding. The sides of the base have been cut to accommodate a dado rail and skirting boards. There are wood worm holes throughout and one panel of backboard is detached.
