Description
- Walnut, beech and silk
- 43cm. high, 60cm. wide, 47cm. deep; 1ft. 5½in., 2ft., 1ft. 6½in.
the beech frame covered in distressed yellow silk, each leg with a stylised scallop shell and terminating in pad feet, restorations
Condition
Fair condition, but would benefit from some restoration. Very scuffed and marked. The upholstery is stained, worn and torn. One leg has a repaired break with replaced sections and later carving. All of the legs has wear to the carved knees. One leg has losses to its pad foot, the others all have chips and minor losses to the feet. Pleasing proportions.

Catalogue Note
There are number of 'Walnuttree stools with Needle Work Seats' recorded in the old Jacobean wing of Chiswick House in the Inventory of 1770. There were examples in the 'Dineing' Room, The Chintz Bed Chamber and The Nursery and adjoining Rooms.
