comprising two pairs, a set of three and a pair of double doors, each with finally chased foliate decorated gilt handles and brass canister hinges, the larger doors with twin astragal moulding, each bearing a paper label inscribed with a number the word cupboard and Plate Room the lock plate engraved J. Bramah, Piccadilly

Condition

Probably ordered by William Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858) These measurments are approximate. Of high quality. The doors would benefit from a thorough clean. The glazing is all in good condition but the gilt metal mounts are tarnished.

Catalogue Note

These were originally located in the Plate Room at Devonshire House. This space was positioned in the basement, in a semi-circular room, below the Crystal Staircase on the ground floor.
