  • Glass and Carved Pine
  • 120.5cm. high, 130cm. wide; 3ft. 11½in., 4ft. 3¼in.
the single plate within a moulded cream painted frame, the reverse inscribed 'W. Cribbs, Looking Glass Warehouse, King Street, Covent Garden, London', not illustrated

Condition

Fair condition. The frame has many chips and losses to the painted decoration, with seperations to the joints. The plate has some minor marks.

Catalogue Note

William Cribb was patronised by the 6th Duke over a long period making both picture frames and looking glass surrounds.  In 1830 he also invoiced for bird cages.  One of his larger bills was for Chatsworth in 1839 for glass and gilding for which he charged £1,030. 5s. 0d. plus an additional £455. 6s. 6d. for plate glass.
