Literature
The Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth - The House, London, 2002, p. 218, the Dowger writes; For years two 1930s radiograms stood in the passage, the pride and joy of our generation when growing up. Eight '78' gramophone records dropped down a metal stalk one by one on to the turntable with a loud click. The needle often needed changing but after the old wind-ups, it was luxurious to be able to sit back and let the machine change the records. These cabinets were ugly, made of some shiny wood, so we painted them white, but they are still ugly.
Condition
Both items are in distressed condition, with losses, stcratches and marks throughout. The record player is damaged with the arm detatched.
