Description

  • Wood, onyx, deer foot, silver and bamboo
comprising a shooting stick with a manuscript label Walking Sticks ETC. / REMOVED FROM WEST ENTRANCE / HALL, EARLY 2006 / AS USED BY 11TH DUKE & DOWAGER DUCESS, stamped HOWELL, LONDON, a bamboo cane stamped HOLT EIFFEL & CO. LONDON, incorporating a saw, another a birch cane with an onyx handle, a hardwood cane, damageda stick with a deerfoot handle, and an ebony and silver topped cane and a pine cane together with a wicker umbrella and stick stand (7)

Condition

Most of the canes have some degree of damage including scuffs and marks to all: The cane with the onyx finial has the remanents of a carving of a bird. The silver capped cane is missing its tip. The hardwood cane has lost its handle. The saw to the bamboo cane is mishapen and is missing parts of its mechanism.
