  • Pine and mahogany
  • The door. 225cm. high, 113cm. wide and with the surround 271cm. high and 149cm. wide, dado 1377cm. long, the skirting 1363cm. long; 7ft. 4in., 3ft. 7in., 8ft. 9in., 4ft. 9in., 45ft. 2in., 44ft. 7in.
the six panelled door centred on a bead and acanthus carved divide, each fielded panel with ribbon tied border and egg and dart decoration, the key hole covered with a finely chased gilt brass leaf cast escutcheon, the reverse of simpler form, together with the original parcel gilt and green painted door surround surmounted by a pediment with borders of egg and dart and dentil decoration above a cushion carved apron of floral scroll work and bell flower garlands, the jambs with acanthus, line and bead and reel decoration with a further group of five sections of dado rail with conforming painted decoration and eight sections of skirting board uppers, the door with a label printed His Grace, The Duke of Devonshire, K.G., Chesterfield (LM) and by hand boudoir the surround components with label marked Boudoir (qty)

Condition

The doors are tired with marks and stains to the polish. Part of the door surmount is detached. The decoration is worn and dirty with some losses and chips
