Description

  • leather-covered presenation case
  • 50mm. diameter; 2in.
the silver engine-turned dial signed Jump, London, with gold 'Breguet' hands, lunar aperture at XII, subsidiary dials for seconds and day of the week at III and IX, date sector at VI, the half-plate going barrel movement signed Jump, 93 Mount Strt., London, numbered m.x.f.y., with lever escapement, compensation balance and jewelled to the centre, the case engine-turned around the monogram CJM below a rampant lion; together with a gold watch chain; in a fitted box applied with a presentation plaque inscribed C.J.M. from his Father and Mother on his 21st Birthday, March 13th 1908, below a rampant lion

Condition

Silvering to dial a little tarnished. Movement complete and will just run but would benefit from a clean and service. Case in generally good condition with some minor scratches to the rear engine-turning. Associated watch chain in good condition. Presentation case is in distressed condition .

Catalogue Note

Joseph Jump was apprenticed to Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy in 1827 and succeeded him in business in 1855. He moved to Pall Mall in 1880 and he died in 1899 after which the business was continued as Jump & Sons, moving to Mount Street in 1898 until it ceased trading in 1934. They were particularly known for producing watches and carriage clocks in the style of Breguet.
