Description

  • 299.5cm. high, 166.5cm. wide; 9ft, 10in., 5ft. 5½in.
the white painted and parcel gilt surrounds surmounted by pediments with borders of egg and dart and dentil decoration above a cushion carved apron of ribbon tied and bell flower festoons, the jambs with acanthus, line and bead and reel decoration, each upright with a skirting block, one set with a plain paper label inscribed in ink Gallery Opposite Fireplace and the other set with labels inscribed Gallery To Doorway Near Stairs and the skirting blocks with Gallery Opposite Fireplace and Gallery Near Staircase in pencil (14)

Condition

Good condition but with a build up of surface dirt to the gilded and painted decoration. Light chips throughout. One pediment has a small loss to the carved foliate decoration. The frieze's are baisically good but with light chipping and minor age cracks.
