- Kula rug approximately 190 by 126cm., 6ft. 3in., 4ft. 2in. Ghiordes rug 159 by 101cm.; 5ft. 2in., 3ft. 3in.
the soft acqua reserve with stylised shrugs on each side, beneath a pale blue leaf-filled arch, within multiple borders (illustrated); together with a Ghiordes prayer rug, Turkey, circa 1860 (not illustrated)
Condition
Kula prayer rug: Uneven pile. Wear down to knot-bars in areas. Overcast sides. Not overlocked. Ends with fringes, worn and distressed sections, with loss extending into guards and both ends. Square patch in border at centre of top, and diagonal repaired split lower left corner.
Ghiordes prayer rug: Pile uneven. Low to knot bars in ares, especially in centre. Original overcast sides, some sections with cords showing. Ends distressed generally, top end with some loss extending through the guard (lacking) and into the red and white narrow border, the lower end with guard and fringe, but central section of blue guard lacking.
