the collection of capstan shaped containers in a variety of hardwoods, eight larger examples stamped Chatsworth to the lid, five smaller versions similarly stamped, two stamped Bolton Abbey and some incomplete examples, together with three Victorian metal and transfer decorated match cases in the form of post boxes, all with strikers to the underside (qty)
Condition
18 complete examples , all in good but well used condition, some stained with sealing wax. There is one lid on its own and 4 further bases without lids. The post boxes each have broken finials to the lids, the interior brass liner lists for postal regulations for the day. They are discoloured with some surface corrosion.
