  • 58cm. high, 92cm. wide, 61cm. deep; 1ft. 10¾in., 3ft. ½in., 2ft. and 59cm. high, 91cm. wide, 55cm. deep; 2ft. ½in., 3ft., 1ft. 9¾in.
with domed tops and side carrying handles, the front of one with a brass plaque engraved HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE, no 11 and numbered 13, the interior stamped and labelled A. SPROULE, OTTAWA, CANADA the other locked example lacking plaque and numbered 11 together with a small oak travelling box (3)

Condition

The pair of chests are each in fair condition with many stains, marks and scuffs throughout and one having separations to the top. The metalwork has some rust. One is locked.The smaller travelling case is lacking its central counter sunk plaque and the two front corners of the lid are damaged. Extensively scuffed and marked.
