Condition

This bookcase is currently in the house and will be removed at the buyer's risk and expense by the estate carpenter. The Breakfront bookcase was adapted from its original form when it was moved from Devonshire House. The glazing bars date from the late 18th Century, the shelves are later. The entire bookcase has been redecorated and the decoration my conceal cuts and repairs that are not currently visible. The locks, handles and hinges have been replaced. Upon removal from the house there will inevitably be cuts to the carcass required in order to remove it from its current place. There are old cuts to the cornice visible on the sides. The right side of the plinth has been cut out for electric sockets. In otherwise good condition.
