3 parts in one volume, folio (11 1/2 x 7 3/4 in.; 295 x 195 mm). Engraved title-page, 47 hand-colored engraved maps in text, hand-colored wooduct headpieces and initials throughout; title-page soiled and stained with early ownership inscription on verso obscured, some light staining and spotting throughout, a few oxidized ink spots on E4 with minor loss to characters, oxidized holes on F3 and F4 closed and missing text characters filled in by hand, short tear on H2 touching headpiece, lower right corner of O6 extended and minor loss to text completed by hand, bottom margin of R1 extended, lacking final blank. Later stiff vellum, morocco spine label, edges sprinkled red; some minor losses to extremities, tawed ties replaced.

The second edition, augmented with seventeen maps not found in the first edition of 1572. The Isole piu famose was one of the most popular atlases of the late sixteenth century, treating the world as a collection of islands. The third part of the atlas relates to the Americas.
