Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull, text decorations by Charles Edward Hopper, pictorial title-page printed in blue and black, terminal leaf of publisher's advertisements. Publisher's green vertically ribbed cloth, front cover with three emblematic pictorial panels in red, black, and white, title and author gilt-lettered between the panels, spine lettered in gilt with pictorial panel of Buck, pictorial endpapers, top edge gilt, pink silk placeholder; light rubbing at foot of spine. Publisher's gray dust jacket printed in green with cover design, in a green cloth slipcase; all folds mended, head and foot of jacket backstrip mended.
