- Manuscript book of "Cookery, Pastry, Preserving & Pickling &c. and Medicinal Rec[eip]ts", presented by Hannah Wilson to Hannah Green
- ink on paper
divided into four sections or 'quarters' devoted to: cookery (potting, making hams, cheeses and pies, roasting, fricasees, stewing); puddings, cakes, creams and jellies (including pancakes, biscuits, saffron bread and cheese cakes); preserves, pickles and wines; and finally, medicinal recipes including various poultices, salves, ointments and other preparations for treating a wide range of ailments, from ulcers to venereal disease and from small pox to the plague, with some recipes attributed to particular doctors; also with a short section at the end containing "Divers Receipts relating to Birds, Polishing, &c."
343 numbered pages including some blanks, plus title-page recording the presentation of the book by Hannah Wilson to Hannah Green and its total cost, plus an 18-page index at the end, mostly in a single neat hand (probably that of Hannah Wilson), the titles with calligraphic flourishes, all pages ruled in red, 4to (250 x 195 mm.), "Mount Prospect", 4 August 1774, contemporary calf, morocco lettering-piece on front cover lettered in gilt "Hannah Green 1774", occasional minor staining, rebacked
