Catalogue Note
Les célèbres cuivres gravés par Piranèse (1720-1778) furent achetés par les frères Didot à la mort du fils de l'artiste, en 1807 ou 1810. Ils publièrent l'ensemble de l'oeuvre de Piranèse dont les Antiquités entre 1835 à 1839. Le Vatican racheta les cuivres en 1839.
