Catalogue Note
L'historien Nicolas Bergier a répertorié l'ensemble des voies de l'Empire romain, ainsi que les temples, tombeaux, palais, maisons, jardins qui les ornaient. «Rome pavant ses grands Chemins tout ainsi que ses Rues & les dilatant iusques aux extremes recoings de son Empire, sembloit avoir changé sa nature et condition de ville en celle d'un Monde entier.»
Au titre, le poète Jean Racine a apposé sa signature manuscrite. L'ouvrage figure dans son inventaire après décès : « 10 volumes dont Grands chemins de l'Empire » (Bull. du Bibliophile, 1892, p. 417).
