Please note that this armour is a Ni Mai Do (armour in two parts in real kozane) and not a Do Maru.

1. This is a revival of Kamakura period made in the 19th century, and the lacing are of the period (19th century) ; Overall in good condition.
2. The helmet bowl is heavy ; the side horns of the maedate are made of lacquer and possibly later. The maedate itself is a later replacement.
3. The mask is not matching but is a little earlier example (18th century) and the yodarekake is relacquered.
4. The arm protecting metal of the kote is replated later.
5. The kozane of the sode (shoulder protectors), of the do and of the haidate have usual loss of lacquer in places.
6. The textile is in good condition, overall condition is good.
7. The sword: O-katana blade has slight tarnish but it should polish, it has a good carving of a dragon. The scabbard has some areas of mother of pearl missing. There are two areas (5 x 4cm) toward the tip where the lacquer is largely missing. The tsuba is varnished and early (17th-18th centruey). Tsuka: the covers of the hilt has sectional brass coverings which are later. The blade is 96 cm, the overall approx 130cm.
8. Abumi (stirrups): There are some usual rubbing, both are signed "Bishu Chita ju Shigehisa".
