Description

  • 88cm. high, 108cm. wide, 53cm. deep; 2ft. 10½in., 3ft. 6½in., 1ft. 9in.
with a concave shaped frieze between frieze drawers on turned and fluted tapering legs ending in brass cappings and castors

Condition

Good, solid and clean condition. The top has a few old stains and some light scratches. The moulded edge has a few minor old chips. There are no other handle holes to the drawer fronts and the turned handles are of the right type for the piece however it is possible that they are later replacements. The legs have a few minor marks and the brass cappings and castors are tarnished. Fine quality.

A design for a concave front dressing table appears in the Gillow Estimate Sketch Books for 1806. A similar table to the present lot is illustrated in Frances Collard, Regency Furniture, Woodbridge, 1985, p. 84.
