Catalogue Note
The pierced fret carved decoration to the trestle supports and the shaped moulded decoration on this table is characteristic of the 'Elizabethan' or 'Old English' style popularised by the architect Richard Bridgens. H. Blairman & Sons, George Bullock: Cabinet-Maker, London, 1988, pp. 115-116, no's 51-54, illustrates similar tables executed to Bridgens' designs.
