This work is in very good condition. There are few very minor and threadlike craquelures along the edge of the margins, and towards the centre of the painting where the pigment is thicker. Colors are much more saturated compared with the catalogue illustration. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

"Le figure dei quadri di Chia non sopportano né subiscono passivamente l'atto pittorico; esse si affermano, al contario, nella loro autonoma e grossolana allegria. Sono figure burlesche come in un dramma satiresco (...) che vogliono vivere e amare, rifiutando ogni raffinata richiesta. Esse si sentono palesemente a loro agio nel proprio mondo e seguono molto disinvoltamente le loro esigenze. Se ciò porta talvolta a una canzonatura dei miti o della storia dell'arte, per esmpio del futurismo, ciò accade in modo totalmente spensierato e senza nessuna cattiva intenzione. Queste figure sanno di essere più vicine ai sileni e alle ebbre baccanti che a figure artistiche stilizzate. La voglia di vivere che emana dai quadri di Chia non trova la sua limitazione nella realtà ma nella pittura, in uno spazio che il pittore concede tanto a essa quanto a se stesso".
