Description

  • 17 by 38 in. 43.2 by 96.5 cm.
the lintel carved in shallow relief with three scenes divided by columns of inscription and depicting, from left to right, Isis standing behind seated Osiris, King Taharqa bringing an offering to Osiris and Nephthys, and Re-Horakhty and Thoth leading Taharqa towards Osiris in the costume of the living, the jamb carved in sunk relief with an enthroned figure of Osiris holding an ankh towards a Horus Falcon, two columns of inscription below, the inner perimeter inscribed in sunk relief with two confronted lines of inscription meeting in the center of the doorway.

Condition

Repaired from several fragments and with areas of restoration (visible in photographs), surface weathered overall, remains of pigment in fragmentary upper left vignette, relief is encased in plaster within a wood tray making it difficult to determine whether upper and lower halves actually join.
