A Bronze Figure of Zeus or Poseidon, late Hellenistic/Early Roman Imperial, circa 1st Century B.C./1st Century A.D.
Inspired by a Greek sculpture of the 4th Century B.C., standing in a majestic pose with his weight on the right leg, his head turned upward and to the left, his left hand raised high and formerly grasping a trident or staff, a patera in his right hand, his unruly hair and beard cascading down in wavy locks and surmounted by a diadem.
Height 8 1/2 in. 21.6 cm.
