A Bronze Figure of an Athlete, Etrusco-Campanian, circa early 5th Century B.C.
Striding vigorously with head turned to the right and arms balanced in a running posture, his lively face with short beard, straight nose, and prominent eyes, the finely striated hair arranged in ribbed waves around the forehead and falling in a cross-hatched plait over the neck.
Height 4 1/2 in. 11.4 cm.
