Condition
The Orray:
There are two vertical folds to the centre right of the image. Overall slight scuffing to the image - mostly only visible in a raking light. A small re-touched area at the far left of the image. Approximately eight short repaired tears to the margins at the extreme edges of the sheet, one just extending into the image. Hinged at four places at top and bottom edges. Slight discolouration to the margins.
A Philosopher Shewing an experiment:
There are three soft folds to the centre right of the image. The surface has an overall mottled appearance when seen in a raking light, this is possibly associated with exposure to moisture. A few scattered very small areas of mould, one to the left of the head of the figure on the extreme left and further areas in the left hand corner of the image. A crudely repaired tear (approximately 1 1/2) at top centre of the image, several other lesser re-touched areas. Two repaired losses to the extreme lower edge and top right corner of the sheet. Other minor defections.
