Of floral design, set with cabochon rubies and emeralds, a square cabochon onyx, and old European-cut, round and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 3.00 carats, enclosing a pair of hinged lenses, supported by a onyx and platinum link chain, length 44 inches, numbered 85263, maker's mark, French assay marks.
Condition
Good general condition. The lorgnette set with 93 old European-, round- and single-cut diamonds, approximately G to H color, VS clarity. Also set with 16 lively pinkish red cabochon rubies (lightly included), 33 medium slightly bluish green cabochon emeralds (typically included with some surface-reaching inclusions) and one square- and one fan-shaped cabochon onyx. Slight losses to enamel at edges, exposing metal in some areas. The chain composed of 56 onyx and platinum links. Pendant loop is stamped with French assay marks and maker's mark for Mauboussin. Lorgnette unsigned, but numbered 85263. Only the lorgnette is illustrated in the book, not the chain.
