Description

wood, carved in high relief and painted in coloured pigments, all four sides have upper and lower bands carved with inscriptions in thuluth script separated by bands of carved scrollwork and foliage, the long rectangular side comprises a long horizontal panel with a central ogival medallion with attached palmette pendants flanked by vertical panels containing latticework decoration, the back panel is similar to the front except that the two original latticework panels have been replaced by later probably 18th century units, the two side panels are similar to the front and back except that each palmette contains a deer and each cartouche contains two fish, the red and green floral decoration is of a later date

Qur'an, chapter XLVIII (al-Fath), verse 1- part of 4 (top long and short sides) and parts of verses 8- part of 10 (long lower band). 

Verses 8 and 9 are repeated on the short lower band.
