Description

  • Bronze Mirror
of circular form, the mirror with a calligraphic inscription along the circumference comprising several verses separated by stylised floral motifs, the reverse finely engraved with a central flowerhead under seven inscribed roundels and surrounded by a minor band of calligraphy, the outer border with alternating magic squares and medallions depicting the twelve signs of the zodiac, the bottom with two piercings for accompanying fitted stand 

Condition

This item is in good overall condition. Darkening throughout, especially to the rim and the mirror, with two major stains. Calligraphy and decoration is truncated at the bottom by the fitting, originally probably for attached handle, now for accompanying stand. Minor scratches and nicks throughout, especially to the reverse. As viewed.
