Catalogue Note
This genealogy traces the lineage of the Ottoman Sultans from Adam up to the time of Sultan Mahmud I (reigned 1143-1168/1730-54). However, the red line of descent emanating from the diagrams on the final page continue after the final disc of Sultan Mahmud I, indicating that the manuscript may originally have had further pages which have since been lost. Thus it may have continued the lineage later into the 18th century to Sultans such as Uthman III (r.1754-57), Mustafa III (r.1757-74), Abd al-Hamid I (r.1774-89) and Selim III (r.1789-1807).
