Condition

Very good condition overall; wear consistent with age and use within the culture: thin hairline crack on the proper left side of the face; small chip to the rim of the headdress. Fine dark brown and reddish patina, partially oily.

Catalogue Note

Jaillissant de la bouche, la lame s'étire à l'oblique, accentuant la dynamique du style attribué par Marc Felix aux Luba Kasayi. Caractérisé par ses volumes anguleux et le rythme serré de son décor linéaire - agencé en séquences de stries profondément gravées - il culmine dans l'agencement complexe de la coiffe, mis en valeur par la patine huileuse.
