each serpentine cresting rail with molded scrolled ears above a baluster form splat carved with scrolled acanthus leaves above three pierced flutes flanked by conforming stiles, the drop-in seat within a conforming frame raised on molded square legs joined by stretchers.

Condition

Overall good restored condition and with the usual all marks, scratches, nicks and bruises consistent with age and use. Stable. Chair 'I' with old repaired break to top of right stile at join with cresting rail and with a plug; minor small age crack to left side of splat at front; loss to top tip of right C-scroll of splat; age crack with a shim, and wear to the top of front right leg; the underside of the back rail and front rail with later plugs at joins with legs; plug to underside of left stretcher at join with cross stretcher; later drop-in seat; later strip of wood to back rail to help support drop-in seat. Chair 'II' with an old repaired break to top of right stile beneath join with cresting rail and with a plug to the front and back sides; top tip of C-scroll to right side of splat replaced; age crack to back of shoe; front left leg with slight separation from front seat rail; underside of the side rails and back rail each with plugs at joins with the back two legs; back two legs each with a plug to the side at join with seat rails; later strip of wood to back rail to help support drop-in seat. Chair 'III' with old repaired break to top of left stile beneath join with cresting rail with a plug to the back; old repaired crack to right ear of cresting rail at join with right stile; old repaired break to left part of stile with some infilling; age cracks to back right stile continuing into the leg at join with seat rails; back rail appears to be replaced and with pegs to underside at joins with back legs; side rails and front rail each with a later long strip of wood possibly to support the drop-in seat; undersides of side rails and front rail each with plugs at joins with legs; front right leg with a plug to front and side at join with rail; front left leg with a plug to the front at join with rail; back legs each with a plug to the side at join with the seat rails; undersides of side stretchers each with plugs at joins with the legs. Chair 'IV' with old repaired breaks to ears of cresting rail at joins with the stiles and with some inpainting and infilling to the backs; old repaired break to left side of plat with some plugs to back and some infilling; small old polished chips to top of shoe at join with splat; back rail appears to be replaced and with a plug to underside at join with back left leg; side rails and front rail each with plugs to the underside at joins with legs; metal L-bracket to front and left side rail at join with front left leg; old repaired break to front left leg and with some pins; metal brace to the right side seat rail; later wood strip to back seat rail to support drop-in seat; back legs each with a plug to the side at join with seat rails.
