The coffer with double hinged top opening to a large compartment.  Feet spliced.  The table fitted with a frieze drawer opposed by a frieze drawer.  Feet later.

Condition

The coffer: Overall good restored condition; the double-hinged top with warpage and with a large age crack to the front right quadrant; patch to the center of the front edge of top where key-hole was previously fitted; the frieze with a patch to the center where lock was previously fitted; the interior fitted with a later long brace to the front panel and back panel and with some later supports to support the brace; however these braces and supports appear to be removable without damaging the structural integrity of the coffer; shrinkage to the center panel of the front; areas of inpainting and finish overall; feet spliced; overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs, nicks and bruises. The table: Overall fair restored condition; feet replaced; the op with some perishing to the finish especially at joins of planks; warpage to top; center planks with metal braces to the underside at join; one drop leaf with metal braces at joins of planks; the hinges have been repositioned and the holes have been infilled; drawer runners possibly replaced; drawer bottoms with very large age cracks, but stable; top of one swinging leg with an old repaired plugged break; large chip to the inside corner of one long stretcher at join with leg; perishing to the finish of the legs and some water damage to the feet and lower part of legs; overall with old marks, stains, scratches, scuffs and bruises consistent with age and use.
