the 10 1/4 inch silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals centering three winding holes and a square date aperture within pierced foliate spandrels centered by a pair of putti holding a crown beneath a subsidiary seconds dial flanked by pierced foliate spandrels with dolphins, the back plate signed Wm Devis / London, the six-pillar three-train movement with anchor escapement, striking on the quarter hour and with a nest of eight bells and two other bells, the case with domed top flanked by pierced gilt-metal foliate panels and surmounted by a bail handle, the arched glazed door raised on a molded plinth on gilt-metal bracket feet.

Condition

Overall good restored condition; some inpainting to molding around top panel; small veneer patch to the left the arch of the glazed door; veneer patches to the arch of the door frame and some small patches and infilling to the left side of the frame; glass of door probably replaced; tarnishing to the silvered chapter-ring and to brass plate, the side panels probably originally with pierced metal fretwork and now with glass panels; the back door with some replacements to venners with some inpainting; the apron with some age racks to veneers sand with some patches to the corners above some of the feet with inpainting; overall with some old marks and scratches.
