the triform base with massive shellwork supports below scrolls, draped with festoons, with presentation inscription on one side, bas-reliefs of Homer reciting and of Apollo and Marsyas, all supporting three figures of Apollo, an American Indian, and a recumbant Homer by a classical lamp, foliate scroll stem spreading into an open framework of foliate branches with flower-chased sconces, detachable nozzles

The inscription reads, ``Presented to Henry Bosanquet, Esqr., on his resigning of the office of the Eastern Counties Railway Company, as a mark of their Esteem and in admiration of the Zeal, Honor, and impartiality with which he discharged the duties of his office during a period of Ten Years, by his colleagues...11 Feby 1846.''
The arms are those of Bosanquet.
