the frieze fitted with three drawers opposed by three drawers, each pedestal fitted with three graduated drawers opposed by three graduated drawers.  Repairs, losses.

Condition

Overall in slightly distressed condition with areas of old restoration, in need of restoration, though structurally sound; handles replaced; lock plates replaced; the top with tears and losses to the leather-lined surface and with scratches, stains and scuffs; some patches to the cross-banded edges; central frieze drawer to one side with large diamond shaped patch around keyhole; left frieze drawer with inpainted age cracks, small split to one molding; slight separation at joins of frame; the reverse of the door with later battens to keep the central panel in place due to shrinkage; later shelf and backing to the cupboard; right door loose from upper hinge; inpainted age cracks to front panel and with some bruises; lacking brass keyhole; left side with large veneer patches to one end of frieze and with a large infilled patch to the top of the side panel beneath the frieze; a 7-inch piece of molding is off on the left side panel but present in the parts bag; The right side panel with two large triangular veneer patches to one edge of the frieze; long fillet to the center of the side panel with inpainting; stress tears to the frieze; chips, lifting and loses to one 2-inch by 2-inch square section just above the foliate-carved molded border. The central frieze drawer to the front (as visible in the catalogue) and the right side frieze drawer with a large diamond shaped patch around the keyhole; each frieze drawer with a repaired horizontal break to the bottom end now with inpainting and infilling; one drawer to the right pedestal with a split to the bottom end which is slightly loose; corner of the pedestal with an approximate 8-inch chip which is loose but present; 3-inch section of cockbeading to the same drawer lacking; the cockbeading to the left side of one drawer lacking; back plate to two handles lacking; bracket foot broken off as visible in the catalogue illustration, but present in a bag; front right corner bracket foot to the left pedestal loose. Scuffs, small chips, scratches and bruises to the foliate carved molded edge above the plinth.
