Description

  • mahogany
each cartouche-shaped upholstered backrest flanked by a pair of upholstered armrests terminating in scrolled handholds on scrolled molded cabriole armrest supports enclosing a serpentine-fronted over-upholstered seat raised on cabriole legs headed by stylized shells and ending in scrolled toes. One chalked A7122 to the back leg.

Condition

Overall good restored condition; very finely carved especially the scrolls and the stylized shell carving; nice mahogany. The first with front left leg slightly loose at join with left side seat rail and with slight separation at join with an old shim and in need of stabilizing or re-gluing; small chips to carving to top of front left leg; back legs with pegs and now with two nails; some rubbing and wear to the brackets; some old worm damage to the sails and struts; extensive perishing to the finish of the back left leg and some to front left leg. The second with some old glue at join of right handhold and armrest support; stable; the back legs with pegs and each with a nail; old worm to rails and struts; front right leg with some old glue between at joins with brackets. Overall with old marks, scratches, scuffs, nicks and bruise consistent with age and use.
