The leather-lined rectangular top with bowed ends above two frieze drawers on each side, the ends with dummy drawers, raised on tapering ring-turned legs headed by fringe-carved collars and ending in paw feet (formerly ebonized); the frieze inlaid with palmettes and scrolls; the mahogany-lined drawers with quarter-round fillets and fitted with brass locks stamped with a crown above G R / PATENT, one drawer with chalked inventory number to underside E9665 and the name FALANGA / SOTH.

Condition

Beautiful quality, mahogany-lined drawers, overall good restored condition; the gilt-tooled leather-lined top with age but most likely replaced and with the usual light surface scratches and wear; the cross-banded edges of the top with craquelure, shrinkage and about 7 or 8 areas of losses to the veneers between 1/2 inch and 1 1/2 inchs in length each and with some replacements; the ebony inlay to the frieze with inpainting, the drawers with later ebonized decoration to match the frieze; bottoms of drawers with some small replacements to ebony veneers and with some minor losses; two losses to ebony banding to bottom of frieze and with some chips and patches; some restorations to drawer bottoms; each reeded molding to the top of each leg appears to be applied and probably once ebonized and with two vertical age cracks or construction lines and now with shims and some inpainting - cracks possibly separations over lines of construction due to shrinkage; the back of the paw feet possibly replaced and once ebonized the toes to the feet appear to be original and once fitted with casters; scuffs, nicks and wear to toes of feet; overall with some minor old marks and scratches.
