En 1922, à la fin de l'été, Paul Jouve embarque à Marseille pour un long périple de onze mois qui le conduira successivement en Indochine, en Chine, à Ceylan, puis aux Indes. Il restera à Angkor près de trois mois.
Ce buffle est une ébauche d'atelier commencée vraisemblablement dans les années 30 après son retour en France, et terminée par Jouve dans les années 60.
Condition
Très bon état général. Très léger petit accroc à droite sous les pieds du personnage à l'extrème droite. Trace d'une fine rayure verticale en haut à droite le long de la corne du buffle et en haut le long du chapeau du personnage central. Ce tableau n'a pas été regardé aux ultra violets.
Very good overall condition
Very light chip to the right handside under the feet of the man at the extreme right of the painting. Slight and thin vertical scratch along the horn of the animal and another one along the left side of the man seated on the animal
