Condition
The masonite is sound.
There are a few tiny abrasions and tiny resultant flecks of paint loss to a few places along the very upper and lower edges, particularly to the corners. There is a small fleck of old paint loss to the large area of black pigment in the lower left quadrant. There is some very minor craquelure to the black pigment lower left, which is only visible upon close inspection. The surface is slightly dirty but generally the work is in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish and pigments which fluoresce and are the hand of the artist. There are a few scattered retouchings along the very outer upper and lower edges.
Held in a gilt and painted plaster frame.
