Condition

Original canvas. A previous work has been executed on the reverse, and the artist has reused the canvas. There are a few areas of minor paint separation, including to the plum pigment lower left, a few small lines to the dark pigment upper left and a small spot to the dark red pigment upper right. There is a surface abrasion to the dark red pigment upper centre. The artist's expressive scratches and scrapings are visible across the surface and are integral to the work. Generally the surface is in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals pigments which fluoresce which are the hand of the artist. Held under glass in a gilt and painted wooden box frame.
