Condition

Original canvas. There are slight canvas bar marks about the edges and a few lines of craquelure, some of which correspond to the stretcher bar marks, and the majority of which are in the upper half of the painting. There are a few spots of surface dirt but otherwise, the paint surface is in good overall condition with areas of strong impasto. Under ultraviolet light, there appears to be a very faint line of fluorescence along the right edge, which seems to correspond to the stretcher bar mark. Held in a gilt and painted plaster frame in fair condition. Please telephone the department on 020 7293 5381 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
