Condition
There are some quite considerable vertical cracks in the panel, particularly in the lower left quadrant. There are scattered tiny holes in all fur quadrants.
The cracks in the panel have caused cracking in all four quadrants of the paint surface.
Examination under ultra-violet light reveals scattered areas of retouching in all four quadrants.
Held in a black painted wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
The present lot was originally painted, recto and verso in 1927-28 for the artist's friend Kathleen Dillon. The two images have since been divided. They were made for the serving hatch at Dillon's house in Chelsea Park Gardens, with the kites on the dining room side and the abstract architectural design facing the kitchen.
