Condition

The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is warmer in the original. The canvas would benefit from slight restreching. Otherwise in excellent condition.

"Aujourd'hui, j'essaie de peindre comme je dessine. J'essaie de ne pas y attribuer plus d'importance, je me dis: ceci n'est qu'un morceau de tiole, ça n'a pas plus d'importance que ce morceau de papier. Il s'agit de s'exprimer, de raconter. Les personnages, les images viennent nombreux maintenant (...), ils serpentent, se bousculent. Certains portent des marques, des traces d'un travail plus lointain, des vestiges encore qui m'exaspèrent. C'est selon. Un tache, une ligne devient monstre, bouche ouverte, une langue devient fragment calligraphié. (...) Disons qu'en peignant je libère des monstres, mes monstres - je suis reponsable. Ils sont issus tant des doutes, des tâtonnements, des difficultés d'expression que chaque peintre connaît, que de mes doutes, de mes tâtonnements, de mes difficultés plus diffuses et profondes. On ne choisit pas un contenu, on le subit."
