A large and finely carved ivory tankard German, second half 19th century

the lid with the figure of Emperor Julius Caesar, the tankard carved in the round in high relief with a stag hunt. 

The handle carved with two dogs attacking a stag, the stag with a loose antler, available in a bag; visible restoration to stag's right ear; antlers of same stag with visible restoration at join to head of stag; the body is well detailed and with no apparent traces of breaks or losses; the lid does not close fully; the right hand arm of Caesar also with visible restoration.
