Catalogue Note
The present lot is based on a pair of wall appliques designed by Pierre-Philippe Thomire, reçu maître bronzier en 1772. The Garde-Meuble de la Couronne ordered on 29 September 1787 a set of three pairs for the Salon des jeux du Roi at the Château de Saint-Cloud. They are today divided between the Musée du Louvre and the Petit Trianon at Versailles.
