Description

  • Barcos (Boats)
  • oil on paper laid on canvas
  • 23.5 by 34cm., 9¼ by 13¼in.

Condition

There are scattered areas of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably an area to the right of the right-hand sail, and several minor tears (the largest approx. 2.5cm.) with minor losses to the edges (the latter not visible when framed). The paper is lifting very slightly in two places in the upper-left quadrant of the compsoition, and the work has very fine craquelure throughout, visible on close inspection. Though even, the varnish has yellowed with age and the work would benefit from a light professional clean. Held in a decorative gold-painted frame.
